Over the years, history has made us realize that we have an important role to play in commitment. Today, our teams are still committed on a daily basis to include future topics at all levels. This is how, since 1898, Le Tanneur has been writing the future of leather goods.
At Le Tanneur, we love leather more than anything. We even have a team dedicated to uncovering the most beautiful materials, based on the desired cut and fall of the leather. We always combine the ideal leather with each of our creations. Since 125 years, we improve our approach. Smooth, pebbled, embossed… No matter the finish, we always skillfully work with “full-grain” leather, whose surface has remained intact, natural and on which the grain is visible. It’s the most noble part of leather, and that which we choose to use.
Therefore 100% of the leather featuring in our PE25 collection is certified by the Leather Working Group (LWG), which audits tanneries worldwide.
A DEDICATED ETHICS CHARTER
As experts in small leather goods, which require great precision, we pay particular attention to the selection of our raw materials and work exclusively with full-grain leather: the most noble part of the leather. Our teams are uncompromising and do everything possible to ensure the best quality and durability of our products, so they stand the test of time without losing their charm. Since 1898, we have always known how to adapt to our era, like a master leatherworker aware of their role in society and the responsibilities that come with it. Today, our teams are committed every day to incorporating future-focused topics at all levels of their thinking.

Each season, we send as much of our production work as possible to our workshops in France's Pays de la Loire region. Today we are proud to offer you collections as Sans Couture, our beautiful Louise or also Madeleine our emblematic 100% made in France collection. We also prioritise the use of local procurement channels and leather from french or italian tanneries.
RECYCLED MATERIALS
The quality of the materials, combined with Le Tanneur's good sense and accumulated know how, make our "timeless" creations durable. Hence why, alongside full-grain leather, we use recycled materials. We therefore use leather scraps to develop our watch and jewellery boxes, as well as various small leather items. Today, the majority of our jewelry boxes are made of recycled leather.
RECYCLED AND RECYCLABLE
Details matter to us, as can be seen from the packaging our leather goods come in. Everything is made out of recycled and recyclable materials. The paper and cardboard have FSC and PEFC certification, guaranteeing that the forests they come from are sustainably managed. Our printed packaging also uses solvent-free vegetable-based inks. Every detail matters, and each of our initiatives contributes to the proper development of tomorrow's leather goods.
The program Hand to hand has been launched in November 2021 and invites Le Tanneur customers to reuse, repair or recycle their Le Tanneur products. Collection of pre-loved items is organized each year and a lot of them are recycled or restored with all proceeds going to Le Relais association, a member of Emmaus France.
